SAT Paper

Demoralising! I went to the College Board to attempt the Question of the day. Guess I will e signing up for it next year. BUt Fuck!

In a class of 80 seniors, there are 3 boys for every 5 girls. In the junior class there are 3 boys for every 2 girls. If the two classes combined have an equal number of boys and girls, how many students are in the junior class?

Its been like 3 years since i last touch mathematics and I tell you this question requires the X equation thingy. I got it wrong for my first attempt. Expected. I was chatting with my friend and posed this question to him. Goodness. He replied me within 2 mins with the right answer. And the diffculty level is Hard (trying to console myself) And slowly, he taught me the conversion:

30 + (3/5)x --> Boys
50 + (2/5)x --> Girls

30 + (3/5)x = 50 + (2/5)x

then....
I don't know why the equation changes to....

150 + 3x = 250 + 5x

Lets break it down..

You have to multiply by 5 to get rid of the denominator... and so you'll derive with the equation!
Until this stage, I begin to remember what was taught in Sec 3 and seriously regretted for dropping A maths..
No turning back now! Mrs Yeo (My Fave A and E maths Teacher) Where Are You??!

3x - 2x = 250 -150
x= 100 --> Answer

I feel soo stupid. My friend promise to teach me everyday now. A little at a time. Hmm, I'm still not sleepy yet. Perhaps this question will come haunting me when I close my eyes.. Nooooo!
Ok, be good tristan! Go to bed! Nitez People!
